Founding AI Solutions Engineer

£60,000 – £80,000 + EquityPosted 16 February 2026

About Arkwright

Arkwright helps organisations integrate AI into real-world operations through advisory, engineering delivery, and fractional leadership. Our focus is pragmatic outcomes: tools that work reliably, fit existing workflows, and remain maintainable as models and platforms evolve.

The role

As a founding hire, you will work across client discovery, solution design, implementation, and enablement. This is a remote role with occasional on-site workshops (travel expenses covered).

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support discovery engagements: requirements, workflow mapping, constraints, success metrics
  • Deliver AI-enabled solutions: internal assistants/agents, automations, integrations, and tooling
  • Implement evaluation and reliability practices appropriate to the client’s context (e.g., test sets, regression checks, monitoring, fallbacks, cost controls)
  • Collaborate with client engineering teams and stakeholders to integrate solutions into existing systems
  • Deliver workshops, documentation, and training for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Support ongoing iteration as tools/models change (deprecations, performance shifts, new releases)

What we’re looking for

We prioritise demonstrated ability over credentials. You do not need a traditional CS background, but you should have strong practical experience building and deploying LLM/agentic systems.

Experience / capabilities

  • Strong understanding of LLM behaviour and limitations (context tradeoffs, hallucinations, prompt sensitivity)
  • Experience with modern developer workflows (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode)
  • Practical agent architecture experience (tool calling, orchestration, memory/context strategies)
  • Comfort with production delivery considerations (reliability, observability, security boundaries, documentation)
  • Customer-facing confidence: workshops, demos, technical support, and stakeholder communication
  • Strong written communication and attention to detail

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with evaluation approaches and measurement of quality/reliability over time
  • Experience designing solutions that are “procurement-ready” (clear data handling, audit-friendly change logs)

Compensation & benefits

  • £60,000–£80,000 salary + meaningful equity
  • Fully remote by design (no office mandates)
  • 25 days annual leave + public holidays (33 total)
  • £2,000/month AI tooling + compute budget (API credits + subscriptions), scaling with need
  • Work across multiple industries on applied AI systems with real users

Our approach

We apply enterprise-grade patterns — evaluation, monitoring, and change-safe iteration — right-sized for the client’s stage. We value clarity, pragmatism, and shipping.
